Danielle and Stuart are on their way to Birmingham, UK on a corporate jet owned by World Wide Ventures.  This international corporation is the parent company of many sorts of businesses, including the Warlocks Coffee Shop chain.  World Wide Ventures is also the front for an organization known simply as the association.  The association guards the secret existence of witches, werewolves and vampires.

Stuart is an employee of the association and is part of the investigation and enforcement arm of the organization.  His job sometimes requires that he also function as executioner.  When these unfortunate events arise, the association calls upon members to assist in the completion of the missions.  This serves two purposes: to recruit enforcement personnel, and to convey the message that transgressions against the association’s rules are punished.

Danielle was unlucky enough to be called upon.  By the time this is played out, she will learn many things about herself and the world of which she is a part.
